Annabelle spills the beans on Ruffa-John Lloyd

Actors John Lloyd Cruz and Ruffa Gutierrez have constantly denied that there is romance between them.

But leave it to Annabelle Rama, Ruffa's mother, to unwittingly disclaim their statements.

"Payo ko lang kay John Lloyd, 'Dong, napakatapang mo ligawan si Ruffa, d'yan ako bilib sa 'yo,"' Rama said during the 100th episode of her daughter's show, "Ruffa and Ai."

To which Ruffa could only say, "Oh my god, Ma!"

In the July 5 episode of "The Buzz," Ruffa informed the public that she and John Lloyd were merely friends; just "shopping buddies," as she puts it, alluding to a photo which showed the two walking down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

"I think there's really nothing wrong kung magkita kami ni John Lloyd doon. We enjoy each other's company. We text, nagtatawagan kami. And we do go out. So, wala naman po sigurong masama doon dahil disente naman si John Lloyd. Single naman siya, single naman ako," Ruffa said.

She added: "Actually, ang totoo po, we are not a couple. Hindi po kami magkasintahan, okay? So, relax lang kayo. [And] like I said, wala naman pong masama [with whom] I enjoy my time, whether with a female or a male friend. Mabait naman si John Lloyd, di ba? Okay lang naman siguro na maging kaibigan ko siya, na makilala ko siya."

Yet Annabelle spilled the beans on them a few days later by saying, "Surrender na ang bandera ng Bisaya, binababa ko na. Itataas ko na ang kamay ko - pati paa ko, itataas ko na!"

Sarah breaks silence on Lloydie-Ruffa 'love affair'

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo is heaving a sigh of relief now that her name is no longer being dragged into the break-up of John Lloyd Cruz and stylist Liz Uy. Previous reports pointed to Geronimo when news about the Cruz-Uy split had swirled but the pop princess vehemently denied the allegation. From the break-up, the attention of the public shifted to the Cruz and Ruffa Gutierrez’s alleged budding love affair and the singer admitted that she was “somehow relieved” by this.

"Kasi may image akong inaalagaan sa mga kabataan. At iyong ma-involve sa ganoong intriga, something serious, ay talagang hindi biro. Relieved lang," Geronimo said during the launching of Careline's newest commercial on Wednesday. Geronimo was cautious when it came to the Cruz-Gutierrez alleged hook up. Her only wish though is for her leading man in “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life” to become happy, she said. "Siguro kung ano lang po ang makakapagpaligaya sa kanya sana po ay makuha niya 'yong true happiness," she said. She also made an appeal to all their fans who were still hoping that she and the young actor would end up as a real couple. "Inevitable iyan na mag-hope sila na magkataluyan ang dalawang artista na magkaparehas sa pelikula na magkatuluyan. Pero iyon ang kailangang tanggapin din ng mga tao na parte iyon (sweetness) ng trabaho ng pagiging artista," the singer said. She maintained though that she is not closing her doors to another team-up with the young actor. "Kung gugustuhin nilang magpatuloy ang tandem namin, okay naman," Geronimo added. Sarah weeps for the ‘King of Pop’ Meanwhile, Geronimo admitted that she cried when one of her idols, King of Pop Michael Jackson, passed away due to cardiac arrest. When she was young, the Filipino singer divulged that one of her dreams was to perform alongside Jackson. She said she even planned to watch Jackson's concert in London just to get a glimpse of her idol. "Sobrang taas ng pangarap ko na gusto ko siyang makasama on stage, share the same stage with the King of Pop," she said. Geronimo, whose favorite Jackson's song is "Man In The Mirror," also shared the best lesson she learned from the “Thriller” star. "Iyong connection [with the audience]. Parang being able to make them feel, iyong audience mo, na hindi ka performer lang kung hindi isa ka ding human being na you share the same problems, experiences in life. Ganoon kasi si Michael, hindi po ba?" Geronimo said. Geronimo said she was crying while watching Jackson's public memorial service at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Ruffa: The worst is over

Despite the pronouncement of Annabelle Rama, actress Ruffa Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz are still insisting that they are just friends. For the 35-year-old Gutierrez, what’s important now is that she already got the nod of her parents, Rama and actor Eddie Gutierrez, when it comes to her friendship with the young actor. "I think if my mom and dad are okay with my friendship with John Lloyd, for me, that's all that really matters. Maayos na talaga lahat," Gutierrez said. Gutierrez said she is thankful that the issue has finally been settled and that the “worst is over.”

"Isang one big happy family kami kaya dapat kayo ay maging happy din," she said. On Monday Rama, a talent manager, gave Cruz a go-signal to court her only daughter.

Rama said Cruz, who is nine years younger than Ruffa, has already proven his sincerity and supposed feelings for the actress during their dinner at the Gutierrezes' residence.

Not a reconciliatory meeting

It would be recalled that Rama challenged Cruz to be a man and publicly admit his true feelings for her daughter amid his denial that there was something going on between him and the actress.

Rama and her daughter even had a dispute reportedly due to Gutierrez’s unidentified younger suitor, who is believed to be Cruz.

The issue had prompted Cruz's camp to set up a dinner meeting with the Gutierrez family on June 17.

Cruz was quick to clarify that it was not a reconciliatory meeting. “Kasi, wala naman kaming pinag-awayan ni Tita Annabelle. Iyong meeting na iyon was just for her to know me better. Kasi, hindi pa naman kami ganoong magkakilala,” he said, adding that it was a very cordial meeting. He laughed when reporters joked that the dinner was a pamamanhikan, a Filipino tradition where the man and his parents visit the woman's family to ask for her hand in marriage. Cruz admitted though that he and Ruffa were together in the US a couple of weeks ago. He also did not deny the news saying that the actress toured him around Beverly Hills. “Magkasama kami. Yes, we shopped and that’s it,” said the actor. During his birthday though, Cruz shared that he celebrated it with his former girlfriend, who is now based in the US. “Kasi iyong kaibigan namin noong ex ko, nag-birthday iyong anak, so we agreed to celebrate it the same day of my birthday. It was a very memorable event.” With Boy Villasanta, abs-cbnNEWS.com

Latest Updates about Lloydie and Ruffa - Rama yields, OKs Ruffa-Lloydie 'relationship'

After much resistance, talent manager Annabelle Rama has finally “surrendered” to Ruffa Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz's alleged budding romance. During her guesting on the 100th episode of morning show “Ruffa and Ai” Monday, Rama gave the young actor a go-signal to pursue her only daughter. Rama said Cruz, who is nine years younger than Ruffa, has already proven his sincerity and supposed feelings for the actress during their dinner at the Gutierrezes' residence two weeks ago.

“Tinanong ko si John Lloyd sa bahay namin noong dinner, lumabas ang mga [ibang] artista, ‘Bakit hindi ka manligaw sa mga artista na yan? Maganda lahat iyan.’ Tawa lang siya ng tawa. Ibig sabhin gusto niya talaga si Ruffa. Sana huwag mong lokohin si Ruffa. Gusto mo talaga siya, okay lang,” Rama said. Rama, who is known for her frankness, was also impressed by the young actor. She praised Cruz’s courage, saying that, despite her strong objection, he continuously pursues the “Ruffa and Ai” host. “Napakatapang mong ligawan si Ruffa kaya ako bilib sa iyo. Maski ayoko sa iyo, ang kulit kulit mo kay Ruffa,” she said. There was another reason that prompted Rama to change her mind. She disclosed that it was hard for her to ignore the “twinkle” in both Ruffa and Cruz’s eyes when they were together. “Ruffa, kaya ako nag-surrender sa iyo, nakikita ko ang mata mo [at] mata ni John Lloyd, nag-twi-twinkle twinkle,” she said. She also rebuffed the “we’re-just-friends” public pronouncement of the two, predicting that their friendship will eventually lead to something more. Rama gave her go-signal under one condition though – for Cruz not to hurt her daughter. “Surrender na ang bandera ng Bisaya, binababa ko na. Itataas ko na [ang] kamay [ko], pati paa [ko] itataas ko na,” she joked. The talent manager also stated that she will no longer meddle with the decisions of her 35-year-old daughter. “Kung saan ka masaya, bahala ka sa buhay mo. Nagsawa na ako sa kaka-advice sa iyo. Pati mga apo ko nagagalit na din sa akin. Kung ano man ang pinili mong landas konting ingat lang para di ka madapa,” she added.

Latest Updates about Lloydie and Ruffa - Ruffa confesses: What's true, what's not true

Grabe! That best describes Ruffa Gutierrez’s current affairs of the heart.

Fresh from a family vacation with her parents, Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama, in L.A., Ruffa confessed in an exclusive chat with Funfare that, yes, she did meet up with rumored boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz (who Ruffa refers to as “JL”) who also happened to be there with fellow Star Magic talents for a show.

“Yes, it’s true, but,” she clarified, contrary to a recent Funfare blind item, “I didn’t check into a ‘$600-per-night’ hotel with JL,” which she identified as the Sls Hotel, adding, “it’s the hottest new Philip Starck hotel in Beverly Hills. It was only JL and other stars who were billeted there. I stayed in our condo with my parents.”

The condo, also in Beverly Hills, is five minutes away from Sls. Since Ruffa is familiar with the place, she must have volunteered to act as “guide” for John Lloyd with whom she was photographed by a paparazzo in casual clothes, walking casually as if window-shopping.

Ruffa also confessed that, yes, it’s true that she and John Lloyd have been going out and seeing each other both here and while they were in L.A.

“But,” again she clarified, “what is not true is the rumor that we are committed to each other, even if there’s nothing wrong with it because I am single and JL is single, too. We are just into a getting-to-know-each-other stage. I see nothing wrong with that. JL is guapo, sikat and mabait. Besides, don’t I have the right to choose who I should go out with or make friends with, whether male or female?”

Ruffa insisted that she’s not denying anything because there’s nothing, not a “commitment” anyway, to deny nor confirm, never mind if in the Internet, members of John Lloyd’s family said that he and Ruffa have been “on” since May last year. The, ehem, “special friends” became close during their stint with the just-concluded ABS-CBN soap I Love Betty La Fea.

“If ever I go steady with whoever,” assured Ruffa, “I will not deny it; I will announce it to the whole world.”

The irony of it all is that John Lloyd’s ex-girlfriend, Liz Uy, happens to be the barkada of Ruffa’s brother Raymond who happens to be John Lloyd’s good friend. What an interesting little circle, ‘no?

What comes as a big relief to Ruffa is the fact that John Lloyd and her mom Annabelle Rama are “now okay” with each other after a reconciliation dinner arranged by ABS-CBN Talent Center head Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan. In fact, John Lloyd joined the Gutierrezes at a dinner in L.A.

No wonder Ruffa is stress-free and very happy, as in...

Grabe, grabe, grabe!!!

Lloydie, Ruffa Sighted in Posh Hotel in US?

Despite their repeated denials, rumors about John Lloyd Cruz and Ruffa Gutierrez’s hook up would not die down.

Cruz and Gutierrez flew to California, United States separately last week. Cruz was part of Star Magic’s 17th anniversary concert in the US while Gutierrez had spent her birthday there.

Their trips had triggered speculations that they were planning to meet up there. They did see each other in a party thrown in Los Angeles. Cruz was reportedly among the guests. Also present in the party were Gutierrez’s parents, Eddie Gutierrez and the feisty Annabelle Rama.

Before they left the country, Cruz had to assure Rama over dinner that he was not courting her daughter.

After the Cruz-Rama brouhaha had been settled, another intrigue regarding the real status of Gutierrez and the young actor’s relationship swirled. This time, the speculation is backed with evidence – a photo allegedly of the two entering a posh hotel in Beverly Hills.

In the photo, only the woman and man’s backs can be seen. The woman is wearing a black asymmetrical dress and gladiator sandals while the man in a baseball cap is carrying a backpack and luggage.

Some bloggers were certain that they were Cruz and Gutierrez but the two celebrities have yet to comment on the controversial photo.
