Miss Mexico Universe 2009 is Karla Carrillo. Karla María Carrillo González was born on January 24, 1988 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. She was crowned Nuestra Belleza Mexico on September 20, 2008 in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Representing her native state of Jalisco, Karla Carrillo competed in the national beauty pageant Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2008, where she obtained first place among thirty-two other contestants, thus making her the first Jaliscan to win the national title since Jacqueline Bracamontes in 2000. She was crowned by outgoing Nuestra Belleza Mexico titleholder Elisa Nájera of Guanajuato.
